Removing discrete packages
from new or existing designs and replacing
them with a chip-on-board solution is often
the easiest way to reduce cost, size and time
of assembly.

Optical system design
projects are managed by Semelab engineers
from initial concept through to volume
manufacture. Technical feasibility studies
are undertaken initially to explore all
possible design options, and enable the
customer to select the most suitable design
for the application. Prototypes can then be
built and moved into design for
manufacture.

Radiation Detectors |
|
Radiation detectors utilise silicon
photodiode technology but with the addition
of a crystal or membrane of scintillator
material. Scintillators convert the higher
energy x-rays into the visible spectrum,
which can then be detected by a
photodiode.

Diamond Detectors |

Semelab are the
co-ordinator for a diamond-based EU
collaborative project. The project involves a
number of leading manufacturers and research
organisations which specialise in this
area.
Main aims of
Project
To develop a Chemical Vapor Deposition
Diamond Array-based
Radiation Dosimeter System.
This will improve the level of accuracy and
performance required
by Intensity-modulated radiation therapy
(IMRT).

Laser Gas Analyser |

The SMPMOD.LDM DFB laser
module is packaged in an industry-standard
14-pin butterfly package. The integrated
thermoelectric cooler and thermistor are used
to temperature stabilize and tune the laser
to the desired wavelength.
